The Knights were briefed about strange transmissions coming over radios in New York City in Shadowkind languages. They were given a list of people who had reported them to the police to begin with.
One of those people was Sawyer Kelly, who caught a transmission speaking in Elvish, entreating her to go to the FAO Schwarz store on 5th avenue and acquire a BunBun electronic rabbit in the next 24 hours. Arriving at the store, she was told that they were flying off the shelves. She used magic to ascertain that there were more in the back area of the store...
Meanwhile, the Knights were questioning a cab driver about what he had heard, although he didn't know much, other than it had been in Dwarven. At that point, another transmission came through, which they translated to get the same message that Sawyer had received. They headed to the store and were also directed to the very back of the store.
Arriving back there, they ran into each other, and noticed a tattooed man with a buzzcut and a handgun holstered, as well as body armor, who reached for the last BunBun at the same time as the others. He beat them to the Bun and insisted it was for his boss' nephew, who had cancer. They decided to follow him, and received a message on their phones that 'failure was not an option'. Down an alley, Alice tazed him and they took the BunBun, disturbing Sawyer when Alice warned Davin not to kill the guy. They introduced themselves to Sawyer and checked out the toy, learning that it had a tiny camera installed in its eyeball. Davin agreed to let Sawyer work with them to learn more. Alice called the Hoard and talked to Lis'sa (gulp) about tracing the signal back.
They met up with Lis'sa back at the hotel, and introduced her to Sawyer. While Lis'sa examined the toy, Alice did some research on its production, finding that it was produced by a company called Konkgreen, manufactured in Japan through Soloelectronics. Lis'sa learned that the toys had a location chip and could be activated to create and upload recordings from afar. Lis'sa worried that the intent might be to locate Shadowkind babies. Her attempts to block the signal were blocked, apparently by a technomage. They decided to bring it back to Zero at the castle, and try to manufacture a recall press release to get the buns returned to the store. They offered to take Sawyer with them and she agreed. Alice filled her in on some of the particulars.
